Physical therapy and Chiropractic care for sports and other injuries

Physical therapy is used for the treatment of physical injuries and disabilities caused by various types of trauma or stress. It is often referred to as PT and the therapists are known as physiotherapists.  Chiropractors are also licensed to do physical therapy and frequently utilize this in addition to chiropractic adjustments of the spine and other joints of the body.   In cases of physical injuries involving muscles, joints and bones, physical therapy is highly recommended and preferred. Sports injury refers to the injuries caused by overexertion in any sports activity such as running, jumping, cycling, swimming, yoga and weight-lifting.

Physical therapy is aimed at restoring and improving the range of movement of the body. Physical therapy is also helpful for individuals who have no particular injury but would like to avoid problems in the future.  Many athletes get physical therapy and chiropractic care on a regular basis. In California, many renowned sports athletes and professional bodybuilders rely upon physical therapy including massage and chiropractic care to maintain good muscle tone and overall physical fitness.

Santa Monica, California is also home to many famous athletes and movie stars who recognize the value of physical therapy and chiropractic care as a way to achieve and maintain peak performance.

The main focus of physical therapy is to eliminate pain while gaining one’s full range of movement.  Effective care often requires several visits to strengthen areas weakened by injury and restore muscle and joint integrity to prevent the arthritis that often occurs in older patients.
